Section A
Vic Jokers 468 - 468 Wide Boys
Thursday 4th March 10 at Bulls Head
By Andy Fowler
Due to refurbishment works at The Vic this game was moved to The Bull. Throwing first Wide Boys hit 76, which proved to be their best hand of the night, thanks to stick-ups from Matt Slade (15), James Dunham (12) and Andy Fowler (13). Jokers replied with a solid hand of 64 with no stick-ups. A 62 from Wide Boys on the second hand opened the door for Jokers, which they stormed through, by hitting 81 to take a 7-pin lead.
Wide Boys third hand of 69 was given respectability by Justin Hallett's 14. This surprisingly gave them a lead of 10 as Jokers struggled to hit 52. Wide Boys 67 on the fourth hand (12 from Jason Hallett) lost 3 pins as D.Coward's 16 helped Jokers to a score of 70.
A poor 62 on the fifth hand from Wide Boys lost 10 pins as the Coward boys hit stick-ups of 15 and 12, in a 72 hand, to give Jokers a lead of 3. Wide Boys bounced back on the penultimate hand as James Dunham (14) and Jason Hallett (12) helped them to a score of 71. This looked to be giving Wide Boys a decent lead going into the last hand until Jokers anchor man A. Coward hit his third stick-up of the game (14) to leave Wide Boys with a lead of 3.
Wide Boys could not find a decent first ball on the final hand and a total of 61 left Jokers with a great chance of victory. The victory looked even more likely as third man S.Coward hit his second stick-up of the game (12) that meant the bottom half required 32 to win. 23 from the next three left anchor man A.Coward with 9 to win, and when his first ball left a second fronter pair the game looked all over. However, he hit the winger with his second ball and then boltered the last ball to leave the game all tied up.
S.Coward and A.Coward top scored for Jokers with 69 a piece and Andy Fowler took the Wide Boys honours with 65. |
