Wanderers record 2nd win of season!

Section A - Friday 24th October 2008 at Bladen Social Club

Puddletown Wanderers 451 Milborne Woodmen 417

Without a win for over a month Puddletown Wanderers finally recorded there 2nd win in league in fine style over Milborne Woodmen. After being asked to throw first Wanderers started with a 59 hand with nobody showing any form capable of. Woodmen repiled with a 64 hand Sam King hitting a (13) to leave them 5 up after 1. Into the 2nd and it got worse for the Wanderers scraping to the 50 mark to hit a modist 53. However Woodmen couldnt make the most of this only hitting 55 to leave them 7 up after 2.

Into the 3rd hand it went and finally Wanderers kicked into gear.  Matty Barrett at the top kicked it all off with a 13 to give the team the kick to get going. With super sub Maurice Daubney also recording a great 9 the top 2 had done there job and the rest followed recording a 65 hand. Howver Woodmen didnt lie down recording a 62 hand with no stick ups to leave them 4 up.  With the game tight after 3 hands Wanderers went Into the 4th with renewed hope of fightback and it got even better for them. Matty Barrett again got team of to great start taking out a single pin stick up to hit a 15. Again Super sub Maurice Daubney supported Matty with a 7 and the rest followed with only 1 player hitting less than a 8 to give a hand of 73. (Tony Belt 14) This time Woodmen could not respond hitting 58 to leave Wanderers 11 up after 4.

Into the 5th it was much same Wanderers recorded a 69 with Sam Napper and Mike Thomson hitting 14's for the Wanderers. Woodmen then hit there lowest hand of night 54 to leave Wanderers 26 up with 2 to play. Hand 6 was a much tighter affair With Wanderers hitting a 63 (Tony Belt 14) and Woodmen hitting a 59 (Sam King 14) However again Wanderers gained 4 pins to go 30 up with 1 to play. A lead that was never gonna to be thrown away Wanderersd hoped.

Into the 7th and final hand Wanderers again put in a hand of 69. Matty Barrett started it of with a 9 to clinch top score and to give him a personal best score of 70. Again the team followed suit with no less than a 7 all the way down through. Also a mention must be said to Wayne "Bazil Brush" Stevens for a fine (13) stick up which he truly deserved after a frustrating night. With seemingly nothing to play for as they required 100 to win this didnt faze Woodmen with the first 3 hitting 32 between them (T.Brown 15) However they just couldnt find a few more stick ups hitting a 65 hand to lose by 34 pins.

Woodmen may want to put there first game to back of mind at there new home. With hope next week will prove better for them when they host Allsorts.

Top score for Woodmen - Sam King 62
Top Score for Puddletown Wanderers - Matty Barrett 70
