Dorchester Pic 'n' Mix 375 Third Time Lucky 323
Pic 'n' Mix finished their group matches in the Blackthorn British Skittles Championships with a win against Wellington side Third Time Lucky.
Pic 'n' Mix started well and anchor man Malc Slade had the perfect start to his night when he floppered his first ball and ended up with 16 as the home side hit 69. But the visitors in turn started well and hit 63 with a 13 stick up from Gary McLoughlin.
The home side were in the 60's again on the second hand with 64, but this time the visitor had a poor reply, and a 48 hand meant that the Colliton outfit went 22 pins in front.
A 59 from the host was followed by 44 from the Somerset side and with the difference now being 37 the match was already over.
Pic 'n' Mix hit hands of 61, 60 and 62 on their way to a 52 pin victory, the away side recovered after their two hands in the 40's to hit 56, 54 and 58, the last hand some of the visiting team tried throwing double handed (or Dorset flop as it is known to players outside Dorset), and captain Gill Butler hit a 15 stick up (with a bit of help from the sticker up).
Top score for the Dorchester side was Malc Slade with 56, while for the Somerset side Gary McLoughlin hit 49.
